Southern Communications support Cancer Research UK

Southern Communications are committed to supporting charities across the UK and were delighted to be one of the main sponsors of Iran Fran, which recently supported is the the very important work  Cancer Research UK, supporting Francis Benali in his IronFran challenge.

Ironfran Challenge

Southern Communications proudly sponsor Francis Benali, in his Iron Fran Challenge to raise £1 million for Cancer Research.  Francis Benali took on his third and toughest challenge to date, which consisted of attempting a superhuman 7 ironman Triathlons in 7 consecutive days. That’s a 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile cycle and 26.2 mile run daily!

His epic challenge was concluded by running in the Southampton Marathon on 5th May 2019, where he received massive support from his well wishers and supporters who all helped him achieve his goal and more raising £1,010,897.

Benali’s Big Ball

May 2022 will see Francis Benali continue to raise fund at a charity ball, originally postponed due to COVID. It is expected to be a great night, with many famous faces and there is no doubt his continued enthusiasm and effort to support this Cancer Research will be well supported and further funds will be raised.

Charity Easter Egg Hunt

8th April 2019

The Great Southern Easter Egg Hunt took place in the office. Eggs were hidden around the office, there was an Easter egg raffle and dress down day.

Charity Cycle Challenge

29th April to 3rd May 2019

For a whole week, Southern Communications hosted their own cycle challenge in the office reception area, with the goal of cycling as many miles as possible to support Francis Benali in his Iron Fran challenge; he was cycling 112 per day. The Southern Communications team managed an impressive 686 miles in total! A huge thank goes out to all the friends, family and colleagues who supported and donated! Prizes were given for the most miles cycled and the fastest average speed. The winner for the most miles cycled was Andy Kirwin who completed 71.56 miles! The winner of the fastest average speed was Liam Sargeant! A massive well done went to Hollie Oke who to all our amusement cycled in a rat suit!

Massage Monday

13th May 2019

Massage Monday took place at our office in Dummer. The massage therapists were Alister Donnan and his friend Philip Weir. This was a great success and they were fully booked all day leaving everyone nice and relaxed!

Charity Golf Day

21st June 2019

The sun shone for the Southern Communications Charity Golf Day, held at the Dummer Golf Club. The afternoon saw Southern Communications employees and friends take on the course, followed by a well deserved drink, some very tasty food and a putting competition. A big congratulations to David Griffiths who came 1st with a round of 77 and James Smith who came a close 2nd with a round of 84.

Charity Pamper Afternoon

17th July 2019

Liz Light pampered the staff with facials and hand massages and displayed her Tropic skincare products, for us to try and buy.  10% of all sales and all donations for pampering treatments were donated to Cancer Research.

Andrew Edwards Ride 100 Bike Ride

4th August 2019

Andrew Edwards took part in the Ride 100 charity bike ride, covering the 100 miles off this highly challenging ride from London to Surrey. He completed the challenge in an impressive 6 hours and 4 minutes. A great amount of sponsorship was raised by colleagues and an office raffle was held in support of this effort.

Golf Day

20th September 2019

A second Charity Golf Day was held in in September and, again, we were very lucky with the weather. First place went to Ben Gardner and second place was David Griffiths.  A huge Thanks to Ash Abbots who has organised both of our golf days.  View video from the day

We would like to say a HUGE thank you to everyone who bought tickets for our raffle and who bid on our items in our Christmas Auction.  We raised a staggering amount for Cancer Research and couldn’t have done it without our amazing staff.
